Do your services cost anything?
No. Job search help, career counseling, workshops, and resource rooms are free. Training funds and support services depend on program eligibility.
Do I need an appointment to visit a workforce center?
No — walk-ins are welcome during business hours. Appointments are recommended for career counseling and eligibility services.
How long does a child care application take?
Complete applications are typically processed within 10 business days. If funding is limited, eligible families may be placed on a waitlist.
Can I choose any child care provider?
You may choose any licensed or registered provider in the Child Care Services network, including relative care that meets requirements.
Is there a fee to post jobs or get candidate referrals?
No. WorkInTexas job postings, candidate referrals, hiring events, and recruiting assistance are free for employers.
I'm 17 and still in school. Can I join a youth program?
Yes. In-school youth ages 16–24 can join for career exploration, work experience, and college prep. A parent or guardian signature is required if you're under 18.
What does priority of service mean?
Veterans and eligible spouses are served before other customers in all Department of Labor-funded programs — including job referrals, training enrollment, and workshops.
What documents should I bring for training assistance?
Bring a photo ID, Social Security card, proof of address, and income documents (pay stubs or benefits statements). Your specialist will give you a complete list.
